This was the most crowded category, and the competition was fierce. In the end, TimALoftis came out on top with the "Best Traditional Avatar". Not2Needy's cheery pumpkin comfortably takes 2nd and AlphaGnosis secures 3rd with her Mona Lisa Witch.

Avatar is an ancient sanscrit word with hallowed meaning for almost one billion hindus
It means the visible descent into a form of the transcendent absolute reality
Avatars have in hindu scripture an almost evolutionary progression starting with Matsya -fish -Avatar which appeared to save Original Human -Manu- from the great world flood. There is a Kurma Avatar-turtle- which came again during the second flood and brought earth up from the deep inorder to form a new earth .This is very similar to the Annishnabe -American Indian- story of the flood
Here Turtle supports earth brought from the deep by muskrat and Earth is supported on the back of Turtle -hence America is called by the Three tribes Turtle Island
Familiar Hindu Avatars are Rama and Krishna worshiped by millions Hinduism always inclusive when possible has included both Buddha and Jesus into the Pantheon odf Avatars.
It is obvious by now that this term Avatar which has been incorporated into popular english usage should not be profaned as in a Halloween Avatar Contest Please choose another term next time -perhaps Icon or Incarnation which are well known in western culture.
